- Tuition-free programs
- Affordable housing options
- Scholarships and financial aid
- Partnerships with businesses and industry
- Recommendations from the Forum: A Roadmap for the future
Recommendations from the forum will serve as a roadmap for the future–hopefully carving a path toward stabilizing tuition costs that reflect the value of a UMass education. A fine-tuned working group–dubbed the Chancellor’s Tuition Stabilization Focus Group–will reconvene to pinpoint and parse data and refine the findings extrapolated from the forum. The focus group will then draft recommendations that will, in the chancellor’s own words, ensure “the affordability and value that this university has for students and families.” Once the focus group has thrashed out their recommendations, they will be presented to Chancellor Subbaswamy, who will make the final decision on which, if any, will be implemented.
The Conclusion

The forum has invoked a robust discourse among students, faculty, and administration, setting the stage for continued dialog and a collective pursuit of equitable and accessible higher education. Let us hope that the conversations sparked today bloom into tangible actions, ensuring that the pursuit of knowledge remains within reach for all who seek it.
